

He was assigned to Fort Bragg, North Carolina in 1975. In 1971, Lieutenant Colonel Hendley returned to the United States to serve at Fort Benning, Georgia, as Company Commander of A Company, 1st Battalion, 29th Infantry Regiment 76th Company, 7th Battalion, United States Army Infantry School and Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 931st Engineer Battalion.

He deployed to the Republic of Vietnam in 1970 to serve as an “A” Team Leader and Assistant Logistics Officer, B Company, 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne). His initial assignment was as the Company Adjutant for B Company, 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Lieutenant Colonel Hendley’s assignments during the past 25 past years of service included Detachment and Company Commander, Assistant Operations Officer, Deputy Comptroller, Appropriations Team Chief and Budget Officer, Battalion Executive Officer, and Chief of Staff. He was commissioned as a Lieutenant of Infantry through Maryland National Guard Officer Candidate School Program in August 1967. He holds an Associate's Degree from the Baltimore, Baltimore, Maryland community college, a Bachelor of Science Degree from Auburn University, Auburn, Alabama, and a Master's of Business Administration from the University of Utah, Salt Lake City, Utah. Hendley III was born June 13, 1944, in Washington D.C.
